During 1998 or 1999 P.B. (Paul Burwell) asked me to inhabit one of the many sheds in his garden at 147 Knapp Road and live in situ as an ornamental hermit, receiving visitors from time to time.
Grotto as entry portal to shamanic dream journey made fluid via painting ghosts.

Performance at the Lower Baracca Gardens, Valletta, Malta using tiny drawings made on the flight to Malta in anticipation of the stone age earth goddess figurines at the Museum of Archaeology. Red cloth and white cotton gloves: the colours of Maltese flag. A homage to prehistoric culture. walking around the walled garden arches overlooking the Grand Harbour and Mediterranean sea.

... shelfed trenches trickle over sills, spindles & curls notch breath & bone dreams layered edges of dust spirals. Dead fingerplay. Broken in two, the shrine mound heaves, slope, quad, spikes, smell of ectoplasm, ghosts living in the bricked up wall. drawings: maps, ancient pathways, lost voices.

One day shadow play workshop at Great Oaks School, Southampton, May 19 2009. Paper cuts of grotesque faces and monsters created with the help of 120 children during an energised series of sessions. Projected big onto walls and screens. Drawings made on acetate sheets superimposed over shadows.
105 drawings made during the performance 'Drawn from scratch' in ink gouache and pen on scraps of paper/card found and collected. The images chart the flow of the performance over a 2 day period and reveal a wealth of trance induced imagery. They would make an amazing publication as remnants of a process based live work. I am seeking funding to produce a book of high quality reproductions of these drawings.
